Plainsmen Gallery Fine Art
Framed Oil Painting by Steven Lang, OPAM 24"x 30 SOLD
Artist's Description:
“From about 1820 to 1845 the mountain men inhabiting the Rocky Mountains gathered yearly for a grand rendezvous to reacquaint themselves with civilization. These week-long affairs included the fur companies who sold supplies and the mountain men brought liquor to trade for furs and other items. These celebrations also attracted various Indian tribes, primarily the Shoshone, who sold and traded their furs and other Native American goods to the fur companies and to the mountain men. Sharp shooting, hatchet throwing and other competitions were held daily. Here a few men are engaged in a new Hawken rifle shoot to test their skill and aim.” Steven Lang
