In 2010, Peter R. Gerbert received a very special \u003cstrong\u003eWILDLIFE ARTWORK OF THE YEAR AWARD\u003c\/strong\u003e from \u003cstrong\u003eAudubon Florida\u003c\/strong\u003e for his painting\u003cem\u003e “The Spoonbill Lagoon.” \u003c\/em\u003eThis was the first time the Audubon group recognized any artist with this distinction and the art made the cover of the \u003cstrong\u003eFlorida Naturalist \u003c\/strong\u003emagazine. Other paintings have since been featured by this group as magazine covers including \u003cem\u003e“Just One Moment in Eternity” \u003c\/em\u003e(2012), \u003cem\u003e“Somewhere a Peaceable Kingdom”\u003c\/em\u003e (2017) and \u003cem\u003e“River Journey”\u003c\/em\u003e (2022). A portion of the proceeds from Mr. Gerbert’s featured prints benefits the group’s conservation efforts.  In 2020, the \u003cstrong\u003eCoral Gables Museum\u003c\/strong\u003e instituted a six month long \u003cstrong\u003esolo exhibition\u003c\/strong\u003e featuring forty-five of Peter R.
